Explaining Loyalty, Betrayal & Offence - by Campbell McAlpine
From the Forward...
Why another book ? Agood question, and the only reply I can give is a 'tug' of the Holy Spirit to put into writing what I believe is one of the greatest needs in the church today.
That need is a greater manifestation of the evidence that we are who we profess to be - the evidence of loyalty which is an essential ingredient of love. Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love, one for another."
Not only would that love and loyalty portray relationship with Him, but would also evidence to the world that God sent Jesus.
There is so much disloyalty in the world today. We read the staggering statistics of broken marriages, broken homes, broken relationships, brokem promises and broken vows.
Behind the tragedy of many of these stories is disloyalty. Unfortunately, all these events are not only in non-Christian lives, but also among Christians. One is saddened by news of Christians being divorced;believers criticising believers, church divisions, and even Christian going to law against Christian. Attitudes and fellowship are affected by differing interpretations of doctrine. Labels are given such as 'charismatic', or 'non-charismatic'; Calvinist, or Arminian; pro-women in leadership or not. Won't it be fantastic to discover one day in glory who was right !?
Paul from a grieved heart wrote to the Corinthians, "it has been declared to me.....that there are contentions among you."
So this book is a plea for a greater measure of loyalty. We will be looking at one of the greatest demonstrations of loyalty and disloyalty, in the whole Bible. The loyalty of Jesus, and the disloyalty of Judas. may the day be not too far distant when the world declares, "see how these Christians love one another."
